Essential Oils
Essential Oils are highly concentrated natural plant extracts - the "life force" of the plant. A drop or two can produce significant results. When using essential oils, it is important to know that there are several different "grades" of oils. I use only Young Living brand, Grade A, Therapeutic grade essential oils. When you buy oils from a store shelf and it says 100 % pure - there isn't much meaning to that statement. When Grade A or Therapeutic Grade is used on an oil it means that there are no contaminants such as chemicals used in the distillation process, or chemical fertilizers or pesticides used in the growing process. They are the only safe oils to use directly on your skin or to ingest.
Essential oils are oxygenating to cells, anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, antiviral, antiseptic, anti-fungal, anti-spasmodic, and anti-inflammatory. Unlike chemical drugs, essential oils do not remain in the body and leave no toxins behind. They make more sense as air fresheners than commercial products, as they cleanse the air by altering the structure of the molecules creating the smells rather than masking the unwanted smells with unwanted chemicals. When we are looking for alternatives to toxic products in our homes and in our lives, essential oils are a convenient, practical and pleasant solution.
They are mentioned 188 times in the Bible, and are believed to be the first medicines used by man. Biblical prophets recognized the use of essential oils as a protection against the ravages of disease. Did you ever wonder why the Wise Men took oils of Frankincense and Myrrh to the Christ child? We now know through clinical research that Frankincense oil contains very high immune-stimulating properties. Myrrh is recognized for its ability to help with infections of the skin and throat and to regenerate skin tissue. Essential oils also raise our electrical frequency, thus making diseases work harder to get a grip on us.
When essential oils are diffused in the home, they have the ability to increase atmospheric oxygen, as they release oxygenating molecules into the atmosphere. Oils increase ozone and negative ions in the home, which inhibit bacteria growth. This prevents and destroys existing odors from cigarettes, mold, animals, etc. Essential oils have the electrical magnetic attraction to fracture the molecular chain of chemicals and take them out of the air, rendering them non-toxic to the body. Scientists in European countries have found that essential oils will bond to metallics and chemicals and carry them out of the body, working as natural chelators, inhibiting these toxic substances from staying in the tissues.
I often use essential oils during a therapeutic massage session. They are sometimes used to relax tight muscles, eleviate headaches, open sinus passages, or elevate moods, or align body energy.
Lemon - one
of the oldest traditional antiseptics. Helps deodorize and purify air
and water. I use a couple of drops in my drinking water to improve the
taste.
Peppermint - soothing
for digestion, improves concentration and mental accuracy. I often carry
this oil with me and use 1 drop on the back of my neck if I feel a headache
coming on. Always within 5 minutes, the headache is gone. I have also
had success with using this oil on many others with headaches.
Lavender - the
most versatile of all oils, soothing and relaxing. Cleanses and soothes
cuts, bruises and skin irritations. Is excellent for burns.
Peace & Calming - A
gentle, relaxing, uplifting blend. Dampens tension and irritability, and
is especially comforting for children. I often use this oil around overly-active
children! It calms them immediately.
R.C. - (for
respiratory congestion). This is one of the most frequently used oils. It
seems like everyone I come into contact with either has sinus problems
or is suffering with a cold or the flu. I have used this oil to stop the
onset of a cold in its tracks. As a matter of fact (knock on wood) I haven't
had a cold or the flu in more than 3 years! There are also other oils
that take care of chest colds and coughs.
Purification - Helps
purify and deodorize the air, neutralizes mildew, cigarette smoke, and
other bad odors. Also can apply it to the skin to help cleanse insect
bites, cuts and scrapes. I have seen this oil take the pain out of multiple
wasp stings, within 15 seconds.
There are many, many other oils and blends. If you would like to know how to order Young Living Oils, please email me. I can get you a complete list and also answer any questions you might have. Also, for those who cannot afford to invest in a large selection of oils, I have some smaller bottles that sell for less (each contains 30 drops) so that you can try them and see if you like them before buying the larger bottle.
